Limping into August

July was a tough month!

The good was really good. I got to do a lot of fishing with some good friends and had a lot of fun. Exercise was good and time with the family was enjoyable as always.

But around July 14 I started to notice some discomfort and pressure under my right rib cage.

I had been really active, running, biking, swimming, and throwing footballs..so my first thought was a pulled intercostal muscle.

But after 10 or so days, I began to doubt that. I felt worse at night- didn't feel well after I ate- had night sweats and hot flashes.

I have always made it an important point to see the Dr. sooner, rather than later. So after some blood tests and a sonogram, I got the news-- Gallbladder!

If you study my exercise chart you can see the impact:

and if you looked at the details- I was struggling at the end of the month- it was hard to run under 11  minute mile pace and the Bike ride we took  on July 30 on the Chief Ladiga trail was tough!

So I had my Gall Bladder removed on Aug 5 and turned 50 today Aug 6 and feel like this setback is temporary, but not at a great time.

We also had our refrigerator go out... so whew... keeps you praying!

But I feel so thankful- I have had many friends and family members show a lot of love during the process.

I haven't given up on my weight and marathon goals at the moment..but the gall bladder explains why I was making so little progress.

I will really have to watch my eating and take it slow...but I still stand firmly in the trust that God is great and He is good!
